On Sunday, October 8, JASCO will be partnering with The Ohio State University Department of East Asian Language and Literature to present Showto-san, a Japanese rakugo performer. Rakugo is a form of Japanese storytelling, told by one person using only a paper fan and small cloth as props. For this special performance, Showto-san will be performing in both Japanese and English!
Showto-san’s program will begin at 1 PM in 180 Hagerty Hall on The Ohio State University campus. Join us as Showto-san introduces us not only to the art of rakugo storytelling, but also to how we are to listen to rakugo. We're explore how to listen and use your imagination while listening to the stories, as well as the tools that Showto-san uses to tell his stories. Additionally, Showto-san will give a short workshop about how to tell rakugo stories!
Attendance is free and open to all!
Registration is recommended (as it will help us to determine how many people to expect), but not required.
